If you have children then you know how tricky it can be to ensure they are happy and healthy at all times. You feel like you constantly need to watch them to ensure they are not trying to jump off furniture or get into any other mischief. There are many factors that come into play when it comes to your child’s health. Take a look at the article below to find out what you can do as a parent or carer.
Diet
When it comes to your child’s health, you want to be sure they are eating the right things and not overindulging in junk food. Sure, it is absolutely fine to have the occasional take away just not every day. Your child should be enjoying a healthy balanced diet that consists of all the major food groups. These include carbohydrates, proteins, fats, dairy, fruits, and vegetables. It can sometimes seem like an impossible task for you to get fruit and veg inside your child but there are ways to do this. One example could be hidden vegetables in dishes like lasagne or spaghetti bolognese.
Movement
Something else to be mindful of when it comes to your child’s health is how much they are getting up and moving about. Children usually love spending time outdoors so take advantage of this and take your child out for a bike ride or to the local park. Plenty of movement and exercise will prevent your child from becoming lazy or slightly over a healthy weight. At times it might seem like your child just wants to bury their head in technology, but this is not the case and it is your responsibility as a parent to get them out of the house as often as you can.
Mental Health
It isn’t just your child’s physical health that you should be aware of, it is also their mental health. Mental health conditions are becoming increasingly popular among youngsters and sometimes they can be prevented with the right help and intervention. You may find yourself going through some stuff at home or with a loved one. No matter what happens, make sure you are always keeping your child in the loop. You don’t want them to feel like they aren’t involved or supported during tough times. You may be dealing with family solicitors if there has been a marriage breakdown, they will be able to give you details of places and people who can help the children cope and deal with it.
Love
Finally, you may not think this is an important part of your child’s health but it is actually fundamental. If you don’t show your child the right amount of love, support, and affection then you could be met with a rebellion. This is your child trying to get your attention through negative behaviour. It is so important that you praise your child whenever you get the chance and continue to do so as they grow up. If they come to you with a problem, show them that you are listening by stopping whatever it is you are doing and giving them your full attention.
