Every day houses are being completed on brand new estates. A lot of the time, these houses can end up looking very similar to one another due to them being built to the same specifications. New builds tend to be very beige and ‘clean’ and lacking in personality. Here are some ideas for how to add a personal touch to a new build:
Add some colour
While new builds are great because you can move in to them and know that there will be no decorating nightmares from previous owners, the colours used can lack any personality.
An easy way to add a personal touch to a new build is to choose to add some colour to the walls in your rooms. This is a relatively cheap and easy way to put your own stamp on the house.
A gallery wall
Gallery walls are so popular at the moment and they are a lovely way to add something special to any room. A gallery photo wall can really add a personal touch, especially if you decide to use photos of your friends and family. It can also be a lot of fun to choose all of the different frames you might want to use.
Plants and flowers
Any kind of plants and flowers can immediately add something special to a room. If you’re not sure about where to start in a new build then adding some house plants or fresh flowers will add a pop of colour and also make a room a bit more interesting.
Work on the garden
New builds tend to come with gardens with fresh turf and a patio which is nice enough but it’s not the most exciting or relaxing place to spend time. Working out what you want from the garden is a good place to start, as well as adding things like chairs and a table so you can at least start to enjoy your new space.
Do you live in a new build? What did you do when you first moved in?
