Generally, when you think about a family visit to the capital you tend to think about central London. You might be missing out though as there is so much more to London. For your next visit consider visiting Greenwich, as there is so much to do there with children.
Greenwich Park
Greenwich Park has got to be one of the best places to go with children while visiting the area. It’s a short walk from the shopping area in Greenwich but there is also plenty of transport that will take you close by. At Greenwich Park you will find huge areas of open space and beautiful views, as well as a fantastic play area for children.
National Maritime Museum
The National Maritime Museum is a great place for everyone to visit, no matter their age. Like a lot of museums in London, this one is free to enter and you can spend a reasonable amount of time on a visit. The National Maritime Museum offers some really cool collections all about ships, trips at sea and what people might have found there. There is also a children’s section but this you might have to pay for.
Cutty Sark
Greenwich is a great place to visit if you have any fans of ships or things to do with the sea. While the National Maritime Museum is great as a museum, there is nothing like getting to set food on a real ship.
The Cutty Sark is right in the center of Greenwich but sadly not a free attraction to visit. There are great view from the ship though. You can also learn a lot about how people lived on the Cutty Sark, what kinds of voyages it went on and what the ship looked inside.
The Queen’s House
The Queen’s House is right next to the National Maritime Museum and a short walk from Greenwich Park. This is a free attraction to visit but somewhere maybe more suited for families with older children. Not only is it a beautiful building to walk around but you’ll find a lot of stunning art and portraits.
Discover Greenwich
One of the most fun things to do when in a new area is to just explore. Greenwich has lots of wonderful shops and restaurants of of course the quite famous Greenwich Market. You can easily spend a few hours walking around and seeing what amazing thing you can find next.
