I know we’re still in the middle of winter and the weather has been horrible but I’m already looking forward to next year. Spring can be a great time to really make a start on some jobs around the house. The weather is just starting to turn and doors and windows can be left open a little longer than normal, meaning everything seems fresher and cleaner. Homes can feel stuffy after a long winter but here are 5 ways to spruce up your home in spring.
1. Spring clean
During winter and the Christmas break it can be hard to keep on top of the housework, especially if you have children at home. Once spring comes though it’s a great opportunity to air out the whole house and tackle some of those deep cleaning jobs that you might have put off for some time.
2. Fresh flowers
A quick and easy to way freshen and brighten up your house is to add some fresh flowers. A couple of vases of flowers in certain rooms can instantly add some colour and they also help to add some happiness.
3. A splash of paint
If you’ve been thinking about redecorating for a while then spring could be the perfect time to do this. A fresh coat of paint or a new colour in a room can really help to freshen it up and add a whole new feeling to it. Paint doesn’t have to cost too much either so it’s a good way to change something in your house on a budget.
4. Declutter
Over Christmas you can end up with a lot of new things and this could mean you might want to get rid of some older things, or things you might not use as much. Spring is an ideal time for a big declutter as you work through each room. Why not try to make some money though by selling items on a local Facebook group.
5. Pops of colour
An easy way to add something different to any room in the house is to add some little pops of colour. This could be anything from new cushions, pictures on the wall or a new vase. A really fun way to add more colour to a room is with some great curtains and they don’t have to cost a fortune either. Accessories and soft furnishings can really change how a room feels and it’s easy to do!
Do you try to change things at home in Spring? What do you usually do?
